I was one of a team of six writers invited by Reader's Digest to compile this fascinating book. Essentially, the book poses questions that anyone might ask about how the world has come to be what it is, and why we do things the way we do. I wrote sections on the film industry, the orchestra, playing cards, the circus, sport, mobile phones, the internet, languages, global warming, and why we clap to show appreciation.
