World Issues series

The World Issues series was devised by Aladdin Books to present key issues of modern current affairs to 10–14-year-olds. These books are heavily illustrated, but text-led: authors have to assess their subjects in a clear and balanced manner, and find a way of engaging young minds. This is not so difficult, perhaps, with the subject of natural disasters (Nature vs Man). It was rather more of a challenge to unravel the complexities and controversies of the European Union, and set these in the context of the original vision. But as a writer, that’s just the kind of challenge I like.
